I will be winterizing the cabin water system in my V258 soon and wondered if anyone has tried connecting a compressor to the city water inlet and then blowing out the water heater, etc. similar to the process of winterizing a UG sprinkler system?

I would still pump the fresh water tank empty and then add RV anti-freeze to fill the lines, pump and faucet and put RV anti-freeze in the sink drains and shower sump.

Thanks for the input.

that is the way i did my system last year. Drain the tanks, open all the valves and apply LOW air pressure to the system until all the water is out. I never added antifreeze and had no problems. This year we will be in the water all winter using the boat so a little heat will be used.

I did that with my system this year, and used some pink.

I use air on my 248, and don't put pink in it and have never had a problem. I blow it thru with
60 psi because that is our city water pressure. I made and adapter to go from hose fitting to a air hose quick connect fitting.

I bought a connector at my local RV store that screws into the city water connection. It has an air compressor connection attached. Works great.

If you hook to the city water hook up to blow the system out, there may be water between the check valve and the fresh water pump, that is not getting drained. You would either need to run some pink thru the pump or take the inlet line off the pump from the fresh water tank to make sure it is drained.

Goto your local RV parts house and buy a water heater by-pass kit and a winterizing kit.
With the winterizing kit you install a Tee before the water pump, this way you pump the pink anti freeze right out of the jug and dont put any in the water tank (which takes forever to get the taste out if you do)
With the water heater bypass, you will just drain the water heater and anti freeze will completely bypass the heater. You will only need approx just over one gallon to "winterize" the entire plumbing system.

I currently use this method on both our 248 vista and our 35' 5th wheel RV. I use approx 2 1/2 gallons to winterize both.

I have winterized by only blowing water out, blowing water out then pumping in anti freeze or just pumping in anti freeze pushing water in line out.
They all work. Use/do what ever provides you peace of mind that it is done right.
