Post subject:  Looking to purchase a 328 Four Winns

My wife and I are looking to purchase a well maintained, favourably priced 328 Four Winns boat. We have a preference for the model years of 2002 and newer.

The reason for this post is to kindly ask you guys if you would let me know of any 328’s for sale that meet the above criteria.

Maybe you are aware of someone that has a 328 that is interested in moving up or wants to sell but hasn’t listed and would like to save on commission etc.? We’re fine with purchasing through a dealer as well.

Ideally we would find a 328 somewhere in the Great Lakes area as this is the general area of our boating but we would certainly consider a freshwater 328 elsewhere.

We wife, seven year old son and I have enjoyed our 30’ Doral Prestancia for the past 7 years and were fortunate to be able to sell our Prestancia privately during the summer of 2009. We sold with the intentions of moving up into a larger newer boat and the 328 meets what we want in our next boat.

If possible we would like to enter into an Offer to Purchase agreement sometime within the next 6 months subject to Sea Trial, Survey etc., so that we may have our new boat in our well for the start of the 2010 boating season.

I’m attempting to identify the existing 328’s out there that are currently for sale and would appreciate in hearing about any others that would be for sale in the upcoming months.

Thanking you in advance,

Mike.

I recall Cap'n having the inside track on one... hopefully he'll chime in...

Not sure what your budget is, but there was a reference to a super deal on a 358 running around...

The one that is available here for a great price is a 2000 model, and does not meet the OP's criteria. I'll keep my eyes open, but a search of the usual boat sites will yield several in the Great Lakes area for sale.

I have always loved the 328, but it's certainly not much of a jump up from the Doral in size.
CC's suggestion of that 358 seems like a more logical move up. There are some good used 348's out there as well.

Check with JXP, not sure what year his 328 is but I can tell you it's a sweet boat and very well kept.

Thanks for keeping an eye out for a good 328 guys. Much appreciated.

We missed boating this past fall after the sale of our boat.

We started off with a Doral Citation about 15 years ago that had a 8'6" beam. Moved up to a Doral Prestancia with a 10" beam. This 1 1/2 foot beam increase was quite noticeable to us.

After being on a couple 328 Four Winns (11'9" beam) the 328 feels like a decent enough improvement in beam as compared to our Prestancia.

We really like the layout and overall performance of the 328 and would like to stick with sterndrives. The 2002 and newer model years of the 328 pick up a number of what my wife and I feel are noteworthy changes plus MPI engines that the earlier models do not have. We wouldn't completely rule out an ealier model pending price and above average condition but do prefer 2002 and newer.

This one is a few years older than you wanted, but with new power and drives, might be worth a look.

Traded my 2002 328 to Skipper Buds in Strugeon Bay last spring for a 378. They still have it for sale. Great boat, professionally maintained, indoor heated storage, new custom tops and sides and new cockpit carpet.

On a recent trip, I ran across a real nice 328 at Holiday Harbor in Chester WV. Don't know what year it is, but it's really clean and worth a look. We talked to the owner while we were there and he waxes it at least once a month. I wish I could say that.

I'm sure you have already looked into these ......

This one is at my local dealer, let me know if interested, I can set it up for you.
I've been on it, looked it over a few times. Very nice boat.

There are probably 10 more around the Great Lakes, but I'll not overwhelm you with
too many listings. One last local boat which I looked at last summer. This is a real
gem.

Finally, if you want to move up to a 348 or 378, I know of some locally that can be bought for the same price as most of these 328's listed.

Cap'n Morgan - Thanks for those leads. There were a couple in your list that I have not seen before that would be of interest.

If you get a chance sometime, I certainly don't mind being "overwhelmed" with any other 328's that you are aware of being available for sale.

My wife and I may try to view some 328's between Christmas and New Years if feasible when we have a bit more time to travel.

Thanks again,
Mike.

Hi Mike: We have a 2005 FW 328 for sales down here in Tennessee. It's a head turner in extemely good shape with very low hours on the engines and genny. We have a FW bowrider that we use for watersports, etc and it's really kept the condition up and hours down on our Vista. I know you can find it on Boattrader but you can also see it on http://www.houseboatsbyterry. Just click on the "cruisers" link and then scroll down until you see the listing and pictures for the "2005 FW 328". Let me know if you have any questions.

Bill
