I'm here to admit stupidity on my part. While getting hung up in the mud, I decided to gun it instead of easing it back. Now I have a ruined prop and I bent the lower unit in a couple of places I don't think it can be repaired. I think those units are cast. Does anyone know a source for the casings and cost? 1995 258 Vista - OMC 5.7L |

Don't beat yourself up, it happens. Props can be reconditioned and balanced if not to badly damaged. No sure what you mean by bent lower unit in a couple places? If you just bent the skeg and didn't damage the prop shaft housing a repacement skeg can be fitted for much less money than the entire housing. |

thanks for the support. The skeg is bent as well as the case itself. I'm wondering if I can find a re-conditioned case and have the shop replace it for me. |

It appears the damage isn't as bad as I thought but, I'm going to have the shop guys check the insides before I commit to anything. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
