I need to replace one of the overhead lights in the main cabin of my 268 Vista. How are the lights removed??? I do not want to damage the vinyl or light fixture. Also, does the fixture have a replaceable bulb, or do I have to replace the whole fixture?? Thanks in advance for the assistance. |

If I remember right, the cover just pulls off straight down. It didn't take to much force to remove one of mine. |

carefully pry the ring off and then the lens will come out. There are replacement bulbs available, I would replace with an LED you will save a ton of power. |

Below is more than likely the halogen bulb that is in there right now and you can get them almost anywhere. I wouldn't get anything over 15 watts though (I think I use 10 - 12 watts). Like other posters have stated, LEDs would be better but I don't want to spend the money ($200 or $300) http://www.marinebeam.com/g4-product.html. Halogen Bulb ![]() |

don't spend 2-300! check my posts I found LED replacement bulbs for $1.00/each + shipping. I did my cabin and head for $30.00 and now only use 7 watts instead of 60 when the lights are all on. |

Thanks for the tip. |

Here is a link to the eBay sell I purchased mine from. I was nervous because the seller was in China but they came quickly and worked great. They "just" fit in the fixture and the amount of light is equal to the halogen lights. When you are replacing the old bulbs do it on a sunny day when the lights are off, those halogen bulbs get damn hot! http://cgi.ebay.com/Warm-White-G4-19-LE ... 20aeed21d2 |

Just out of curiosity I have a 2000 248 vista and would be very interested in LED lighting. You mentioned that the lights just fit in your 268. Do you know if the lights on the 2000 268 are the same lights as the 2000 248? |

bndfishing, thanks for the link, just bought 6 of them to give them a try. Boat is in winter storage and I have no idea how many there are. Anyone know exact number? May have to order more. I am willing to gamble that FW uses the same lights and fixtures in many if not most of there line to keep costs down. |

I have 8 lights in the 268, I bet your correct that the lights are all the same between the 48 and 68. Let me know how you like them. |

Is that 8 including the head? $2.99 shipped each isn't too bad. |

How are the LED's for brightness? One of the things I like about my 268 vs my old 278 is how bright the cabin lighting is. My dock neighbor has LED's and they seem kind of dim to my eye. |

The brightness seems good to me, if you want more light upgrade to the 21 led bulb. It's a little different than the halogen bulb but the 42 watt reduction in power is an even trade. |
