You can barely make out the light over the radar. The light is on an offset pole.. It actually has a fold down ability, and is offset to the side of the radar.
My radar unit is mounted via 4 posts (bolts with a small spacer). No major radar mount.

I am upgrading my GPS this year to a large screen Garmin unit with radar. My 268 Vista has the aluminum radar arch and I will be installing the radar dome on the arch. I have a couple of questions for Vista owners who have installed radar. First, is your radar dome mounted directly on the arch or mounted with a wedge or one of the radar mounts? How is your anchor light mounted with the radar on the arch? Did you move the light to the side of the radar dome or install a combination radar dome/achor light mount? Your input is greatly appreciated. |

I would recommend the 4 degree wedge. I'm currently not using the wedge and it would improve the unit operation running angle - it is a Springtime project (that is life without snow). Although not needed, I have considered a 5" forward leaning mount with light option (you could also mount GPS antenna as on light pole). This would clean up the "look" of the arch. Presently my set-up port to starboard is GPS antenna, Radar, light, VHF antenna. Hope this helps. |

I too am installing radar on our 248 this year; we are purchasing a Garmin 18 HD (High Def) unit. I wish I could have gone with a large screen but I wanted it flush mounted; also, the larger units require a greater spacing from the ships compass so I installed a Garmin 3205. Small but will meet our needs. I have tested the boat while on plane and I noticed that a slight down angle is needed as to not have the dome “look up” loosing the ability to see directly in front of the boat. I am installing the 4 degree wedge manufactured by Seaview. Also if the boat is “plowing” or running at slow speed as in fog, the down tilt won’t hurt you either as you won’t need to see miles ahead of you and maybe pick up that cursed lobster pot. |

Cougarcrusier. I have seen the offset light on some boats in the area. Is your light OEM from Four Winns or an aftermarket? Do you know the manufacturer? |

My setup has a little different configuration with dual mounts. The light is OEM, attached on the rear of the radar mount.

beyond the blue - Here is a picture of my 2008 318. In the next few days I will be creating a few new threads to talk about my smartcraft vessel view install and factory generator installation problem (90 degree bend in exhaust hose at generator) with resolution. To keep the thread on topic, I may be getting a new anchor light bar that matches my Seaview dual mount (need to have it look perfect). SpecialK, PM me if you would be interested in the OEM anchor light and base, if I change it. cougarcruiser and others - great posts and information, hope I can provide help in the future.

Tell me if I'm doing this wrong, I don't mean to, I know there is a protocol about responding to threads, I'm new. I really like the looks of the fiberglass radar arch, but I have a feeling the only one I could put on my 2005 258 is the metal (aluminum type). Anybody have an idea? |

With the 2007 258, the metal arch was all that was available. We had one on ours and it was great for wakeboarding. |

Well our radar installation is finally complete; the boat is put back together and it seems to be working perfectly. What a long project; in reality it started in October when Atlantic Tower installed the custom Arch then continued through February while I made a custom instrument panel to hold the new Garmin chart plotter. What I thought would be 2 full days, or one weekend, to install the dome, GPS antenna and the new anchor light turned into three weekends with a weekday thrown in for good measure. I made the decision to cut the Ethernet connector off the marine network cable to make it easier to run the wire and keep the whole size to a minimum turned out to be a bigger issue than I imagined. I read up on the how too, borrowed the proper tools and in the end had to hire a Garmin tech for a 5 minute project to crimp on the new end that I had to repurchase. It cost more to ship the new connector then to purchase one so I ordered 3, one to use and two as spares. Instead of the three ends I received three boxes for a total of six (anybody need one  ).The marina is hoping to launch her in the morning and if the weather is descent on Saturday we will head down in the afternoon for our first overnight of the young season. If it doesn’t rain I’ll post a few photos; the gang here in Mystic seems to like the way it came out and like the forward sweeping curve of the arch rather than the traditional rear angled box (I had posted photos of the arch on an earlier post). Total: 8 extra days working on the boat 2 hands full of cuts, scraps and lacerations Several new “French” words shouted out And one friend who was there through it all “Priceless” Thanks Pete! |

Man isn't that the way all projects go. I always have to figure on a couple of extra trips to the hardware store/West Marine plus some blood letting before a project is done. Congrats on a successful installation. Looking forward to the pics. |
