Looking for the control wiring from the rocker switch on a 2000 248 vista. I have found it in the anchor locker but want to locate it and tie into it near the refrigerator. does it go to the ac/dc panel or anywhere near? thanks in advance |

I believe it runs down the starboard side from the cockpit to the anchor locker. Just curious, why do you want to tie into it near the fridge? |

I have had to run wiring to the windlass. The existing wire is not big enough for the windlass I bought, I got a great deal on the maxwell 800. I have already run new #4 wire from the enging compartment to the bow. I have run this along the waste holding tank and across the aft cabin under the stairs and up through the the galley to the bow. I am planning on mounting the maxwell sloenoid pack in the refrigerator area and also need to tie the control wiring into this. |

I mounted my windlass solenoid on the front bulkhead in the anchor locker. On the 268, if you remove the mirror there is an access port. I removed the access cover, then removed the ring it screws into, to have enough room to get int here and install it. The just jumped the control wiring down to the solenoid. |

I did the exact same thing on my 248. If you have an extra set of hands the install is a piece of cake |

The install manual says not to put it in the anchor locker.....but I really like the idea of putting it in there. Is this the maxwell solenoid pack you have installed in there and have you had any problems due to dampness and moisture? |

Keep in mind I boat in saltwater and year around. I installed mine a couple years ago and never had an issue. Do use marine grade connectors, wiring and dielectric grease on you connections and your good to go. P.S. Once you have this installed you will never understand how you boated without it.

Sounds like a great idea to me.. I just finished fishing the wire through the cabin. It turned out better than I has expected. Just need to mount the solenoid and wire it up. The windlass will be great for me as I have to very young children. I use to set the anchor while my wife drove the boat and watch both children. This year it would have been harder to do as my son is just starting the early signs of walking. Thanks for your help. Mike |
