On my 328 the generator exhaust is under the swim platform. I don't understand this, but as you can imagine it makes it difficult to run the generator and also be swimming behind the platform. I remember in the past that someone brought up this topic, but I couldn't find it. Has anyone relocated their exhaust starboard? Any concerns? It is easy access, and no issues with running the hose. A service manager told me that it is easy and they will just cap off the old fitting. Any thoughts?

My 298 also routes the exhaust under the swim platform. But basically, given the diabolical and deadly behavior of CO, I'd never run my genny with swimmers on the water on matter where my exhaust came out. Particularly if the wind was light and variable. We always shut the genny down and give the fumes several minutes to dissapate. Even then everyone wears life jackets for awhile.

Have you thought about relocating the exhaust like I'm thinking?

Did you relocate your generator exhaust on your 328. I like it at the back for rafting up against other boats. I run mine often when we are barbequing or swimming and haven't given it any thought for CO fumes. Should I be worried?

Yes, I did it last summer and so glad that I did. I had trouble rafting up behind the platform with the warm water spitting at you and taking in the fumes. We have a 12ft raft that ties up behind the platform for our kids and friends babies. I just didn't want to take the chance. When there was no wind out, it would get bad.

The other benefit to having it on the starboard side, is you can hear and see the exhaust better while at the helm. When your impeller is starting to go bad, there is a change in sound and volume of water being pumped out, which can warn you. When the exhaust was under the platform, I could not hear or see it at the helm. Now I can do both.

I really need to look into getting this done.

Let me know when you want to. Greg actually did mine at the slip. They will need to measure your existing hose to cap it off. I would assume it's the same size that mine was.

What did they charge you to have this done? I assume just install a new thru-hull and cap off the old?

That's exactly what they did. I haven't got the bill yet, even though it has been some time. I think he quoted me $500.
