Hi guys! Just bought a 2000 268. 7.4L MPI, DP, vaccu flush, air/heat. LOVE IT.

325 hrs, fresh water only. Are there any issues w/ this model I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome weigle54!

Can't tell you any specifics about that model but you are ready to cruise for sure. Let me save everyone else time by encouraging you to post pix as soon as possible! What are you coming out of and where do you do your boating?

(I'd also encourage you to list your boat info in your signature)

Again - welcome aboard 8)

The 268 and 298 have similar features and unfortunately the top hatches bite. Hopefully the previous owner replaced them (or it) because if they break, you end up having to purchase an entire unit ($$$). Other than that, my 2000 model has been good to me (knock on wood).

Congrats on your new purchase. We have a 268 Vista and we love it. When the whole family (4 of us) are on the boat it gets a little "cozy" but we love spending the night on the hook. Enjoy your boat and post some pix.

Thanks for the respones guys. Much appreciated. I'm coming from a bayliner 2355, 350 alpha. Didnt like it, too small. I am also a member of the Bayliner forum, so I'll make sure to get my pics and sig updated soon! Getting Married in a month, so time is tight!

I'm out of Raystown Lake in the middle of PA, about 28 miles long. Beautiful undeveloped lake. If you are near, its worth a long weekend.

I'm also no expert, but am pretty experienced boater, so hopefully I'll bring some insight to you all as well.

THANKS!!!

You will have a blast on the 268. We love ours. By the way I would encourage you not to use the word Bay&(()( on this site. It makes us puke.

HAHAHAHAH! I realized the error of my ways.......thats gotta be worth something right? Putting in the water Sat. afternoon. 57 and 20mph winds. Should be fun backing in my slip!! I love a challenge.

by the way in case anyone was wondering, I paid 27K for it. Seemed like a decent deal for what I was getting: Fresh water boat w/ fuel injected low hr big block, sunpads, ac/heat, hot water, new bottom paint, newer canvas, etc.....only thing it doesnt have is the radar arch......never need it, I cant get lost in my lake, but it looks COOL.

NO trailer either.

Price is only important to the buyer. If your happy that's all that matters. By the way, sounds like a decent price to me.

Nobody has anything against Bayliner. Just don't be a jerk and get all defensive when people-with-experience provide some advice and feedback on what ownership of a Bayliner/Maxum is really like. :D
