Awhile back, cougarcruiser posted about Sportboat Northwest in Seattle going out of business http://www.smwebhead.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5150&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a. I looked into it a bit further, and eventually went down to Seattle to see for myself. Turns out the deal & price on the 278 were legitimate. Took it for a sea trial and then made them an offer subject to seeing the boat out of the water. Went back down about a week later and firmed up the deal. I had Marine Documentation Services in Anacortes, Wash. do a title/lien search on the boat and handle the money transfer on my behalf. Norm did an awesome job looking out for my best interest. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him. PM me if you want his contact info. I then had Cory at Sharp Yachts pull the boat & trailer out of the dealership. He stored the boat until I had all my paperwork in place to import the boat into British Columbia. When I was ready, he pulled the boat to the border where I met him in order for me to give the Canadian Gov’t more money (that’s what we do up here), and then he towed the boat to a friend’s place. The new boat would fit in my driveway, but then no one could come or go. I would also recommend Cory in a heartbeat. Not only does he know his stuff, but he has been in the boat business for years, and had solutions to every hiccup in this process. Again, PM me if you would like his contact info. He is equipped and licensed to haul anywhere in N.America. Never thought I would buy a new or nearly new boat (5 hours), but I did. Probably spent about 15-20K more than I originally wanted to, but felt I was getting that much more boat. Nicely outfitted except no genny. Will probably buy a Honda to meet the need. The boat needs a little TLC as there was no one at the dealership to detail it. Also on the immediate to-do list; install FWC, waiting on Reg #’s from Canadian Gov’t (painfully slow process), have the trailer inspected (bit of a joke & waste of time & money). Thanks for the kind words and support. The boat has been in the water now for about 2 weeks. FWC installed and have figured out the operation of all the systems. A few more things to educate myself on than I had to with the Sundowner. Have discovered the cockpit light next to the igloo cooler is not working and that the VHF and GPS are not wired together, but other than that, everything seems good with the boat. Anyone know how the rear seat folds up? I have tried everything. The manual says it folds up to make more room, but not much more. ![]() ![]() ![]() On both sides of the arch, inside rear, where it is mounted to the boat, there is a hole. Looks to be "a screw missing" but not sure. Can any arch owners confirm. ![]() |

You should just fold up the legs for the bench and it looks like the bench will drop down (based on your pictures). There may be another latch or support structure there though. Try lifting up the bench and folding up the legs...give her a good push and drop her down. As for the arch holes... could there have been a bolt there that helps secure the arch? |

The legs on the seat release by depressing a button on them and then fold up. This will allow the seat to fold up by pulling up on the back of the seat allowing the front to drop down. I have the same holes in my arch. |
