Hi All,

I'm a newbie and I need to purchase or rent a trailer for my new boat. I need to transport it from Ohio to Michigan. I have heard that aluminum trailers are not the way to go. I called Four Winns and you can not get a trailer from them for this boat any longer. It sounds like a Eagle or LoadMaster is the way to go, but build time could be 4 to 6 weeks, which is not what I want to do. I also heard and read from this forum that a bunk trailer is the way to go. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it!

That's over $1200 cheaper than I was qouted for a Loadmaster trailer and they're close to home! Cap'n have you had first hand expierence with these trailers? They look to be really high qaulity.

Thanks guys! I will give both places a call on Monday. The Eagle trailer was going to cost about $6500, which is more than I really want to spend. Does anyone now of a trailer I could rent for two days to transport back to Michigan? I called some of my local marina's and no one has a trailer. I'm not sure if they truely don't or if they just don't feel like it? Any input would be appreciated!

I can't imagine that the 238 trailer is any different than any year model 248 trailer. I'm sure there are many 248's in your area.

I'd let you borrow my trailer ... but I'm in Texas. A little out of your way.

If you only need it the one time, I would check into some transport companies. It might be worth it to just have someone haul the boat for you. I would also look at craigslist and ebay to see if there is anything. I'll keep my eyes open and let you know if I see anything.

Bliss36, Integrity was recommended to me by a broker, a dealer and 3 friends that had them make trailers for their boats.
I have seen the trailers they make, and they are top notch. The price I was quoted was during tough times when they needed work, and I had some "pull" from a local broker who put a good word in for me. So, prices may be different today, but I can vouch for the quality of trailer they make. They make a solid product, that is made specifically for your boat.

If we had decided to get a trailer, I would have had them build it.

When I needed a trailer to go pickup the 248 I scoured other boat forums and CL. I managed to find a nice roller trailer on a local section of the bayliner forum. Got a great deal on it and it was very convenient. There's a decent amount of adjustability built into the roller trailers and even the bunk trailers. Check ebay too for something local..

did you find one yet? I know a transporter in Ohio that is selling his. He just brought my 268 up from NC, so I know its a good trailer. PM me is you need his info.

Thanks everyone. I had heard that a venture trailer is not the way to go. I was told by many different sources that you want to go with steel in the Great Lakes. I ended up going with a LoadMaster trailer out of Ohio. Gary Sr. is great to work with and very fair. I highly recommend.
