I have a 2000 268. My radio works fine when I am on DC power, but when I am hooked up to shore power, and the fridge/charger circuit breaker on on, I get static on most radio stations. I am assuming that there is obvious interference from the power going to the fridge that runs right behind the stereo head unit. Any suggestions? |

Do you only get the noise when the fridge is running or is it constant? If it is constant I would look for some other AC device like maybe the battery charger. Try isolating devices one at a time. |

It's definitely the fridge, if I turn the fridge off, it goes away (the noise, not the fridge LOL). I Assume it has something to do with the proximity of the AC fridge wiring to the stereo |

If the ground on the fridge is ok then it must be interference from the wiring of the fridge and either the antenna, or speaker wire. You could try opening the fuse panel and find the antenna cable, see if moving it away from nearby wiring makes the static better or worse. You can buy antenna extension cables for dirt cheap on ebay so if that is the problem, you can try moving the antenna wire farther away from some of the nearby power cables (fridge). You can also try buying an antenna amp. I recently bought a new TV antenna that also allows a hook up for stereo so I will be re-wiring mine soon. |

I second the idea of checking the wiring proximity. Also check that all connections are tight and free of corrosion. Both the power to the fridge AND the radio, along with the antenna wiring (both ends). It's possible something has worked loose or gotten corroded enough to cause problems. Also consider adding a toroid around the wiring at the back of the fridge. They do make ones that can be clipped around existing cabling. Both to the 12vdc and the 110vac power cables. Adding them close to the fridge itself can help suppress line noise. It likewise wouldn't hurt to add one to the 12vdc line leading into the radio. It's also possible this is a sign that the power supply on the fridge is about to crap out. |

I have a 2000 248 vista that does the same thing, could be the wireing that particular year. I just shut off shore power or throw in a CD and that fixes the problem. |
