Does anybody knows how to change the stereo remote at the Helm. Mine is not working and I need some advice how to access to the back of the remote to remove it. I cant find any access to it, besides breaking some plastic parts. Everything is too tight and I fell like if I pull something it will break.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Actually the warranty expired on Jan 15. When I had to replace the stereo that came damaged ( no light on the screen), it took 4 months for the dealer to come with a new one...................thats why I prefer to do it myself. ( No comments about the dealer  )
Thanks!

Yes, thats the remote, the problem is to have access to the back of the remote( panel) in order to take it out and replace with a new one.

Can you tell me how to attach a picture, that will give you a better idea.
or you can go to this link

Thank you for your help.
Maybe somebody went thru the same problem and knows how to remove the front panel with the remote, as shown in the picture.
Thanks

Yep, dealers make the difference. I had a bunch of stuff done just before my 3 yr warrranty ran out. One of the items was the knob on the refrigerator. They replaced it. The plastic face plate must have cracked when they removed it. I mentioned it. They ordered a new plate after my warranty expired. Nice right? Well, got a call this week. The plastic cover piece was twelve weeks out...so...the dealer and Four Winns opted to just replace the entire refrig! They called this week to tell me the new one was in.

Is the warranty 1 year or 3 years?

In 2004, Four Winns changed their warranty to 3 years on the boat and all components regardless of the manufacturer's warranty on the item. That was a factor in our decision to stay with Four Winns over the Cruisers Yacht we were looking at.

It is my understanding that 2004 was the last and only year they did that.

jvalich - My '05 has 3 years warranty.

moico - Take the battery switch locker out. On the port side just forward of the transom door.

Reach around to the two screws that hold the stereo remote in.

Should solve the problem.

The only way I've found to get to the remote is pull the chartplotter. That opens a hole big enough to get to just about everywhere. I put a Lowrance LMF-200 display in the starboard side binnacle, after attempting to put an LMF-400 in place of the SeaKey control (which we don't use).

Thank you guys!

First_Mate, Thank You! I did that and changed the remote in the transom.

jvalich: Did you take out the black console that holds the chartplotter and the gauges ( it has like 6-8 screws) or just took out the Chartplotter?
Is there a way to remove the chartplotter from the panel without having to pull the whole panel , since I dont want to mess with the other gauges, they can get disconected.
Thanks,
Moico

The chartplotter has four screws. That's the easiest. The trick is in prying up the faceplate on the chartplotter. I've found the best tool is an upholstery tack remover. It's a fork shaped tool designed to let you pry up tacks and nails from furniture. The bent part of the blade lends itself to popping the chartplotter faceplate right off. I put a rag underneath the tool where it leverages against the surface just to make sure not to make a mark.

I don't know that the whole panel is removable, I didn't see an easy way to do it when I was poking around behind mine.
