I can't recall seeing any around the fuel system -- does FW put in water/fuel separators other than the one's that come on the motors from the factory?

Anyone add them?

If they do, I haven't changed the filters - I probably should...

Anyone know?

I think all you get is that canister style filter that looks like a small oil filter. Supposedly it has a water separator but you have no way of knowing if it reached its capacity. I have thought about adding an aux filter like the Racor but it is low on the list right now. On my old 278 I went though a series of fuel pumps when we switched to E10. I probably could have benefited from more filtration.

If the boat came with a water separating fuel filter on the engine you don't have to do anything other than buying the right Racor to fit on that base...they come in 3 sizes...Racor's own...and then one to fit Merc bases and one to fit OMC/Volvo bases...just make sure you get the right one for inboards (metal bowl not plastic)...they do cost quite a bit more than the Sierra or similar ones but undoubtedly can hold more water....

I think the kit (filter element plust the bowl) that fits the Volvo/OMC style bases is:
B32021 MAM
and the replacement elements are: S3221UL
