With the mystery leak resolved (see my earlier post) the toilet decided it would join the party! i noticed drips of red pop under the toilet and could not figure out the source. initially i thought it may have been residue from the spring commissioning by the marina crew. So i called the marina and their advice was "flush it a few times." Gullible as i am i followed the advice. the drips changed from red to clear. thanx guys.

Checked the manual for the toilet. it said possible cause could be the clamp ring around the toilet collar. tried that but leak persisted although the drip rate seemed to diminish. the manual indicated the seal may be at fault. so i have a couple of questions. has anybody had a similar leak? what is the seal made of? what was the fix? where is the shutoff for the water supply to the toilet?

btw, another issue came up as a result of outside, shrink-wrapped winter storage. i noticed some scuff marks on the hull where the wrap ended. (i have a blue hull.) the marina boss said "oh yeah, that happens. just use some cleaner/wax and the marks will come right out. I have some inside." so again gullible me thought he was going into the shop to grab his bottle of wax. WRONG! he came out with a $14.50 bottle of Magular's and said "try this - we sell a lot of it." I thought 'i bet you do.' so 15 minutes of hard rubbing and buffing later i now have SHINY scuff marks. D'oh!

The big round clamp holds the bowl to the base. If it is loose it will leak. It pretty easy to take it apart.
1) Turn off the water pump
2) Disconnect the fresh water hose from the bowl.
3) Loosen the ring all the way and drop it down on the base, out of the way.
4) The bowl will now lift off.
5) Two rubber seals are there, either stuck to the bowl or the base.
6) They are different and different colors, remember the order
7) Inspect them, if they are not worn or ripped, clean them well with soap and water.
8) If worn or turn, buy new ones online.
9) Reassemble, should be OK

Get a new shrink wrap guy. Sloppy fit allows the wrap to rattle in the wind and scratch your gel coat. It shows worse on colored hulls. You need to buff them out. I'd look for a professional, if cleaner wax doesn't take them out.
