Does anyone know how to remove the starboard cabinet located in the mid cabin? I am replacing the existing RG6 cable from the TV antenna due to something be wrong with it. A direct connect with new cable works great but the existing one does not. And due to the existing cable being wire-tied to other wires I can't use it to pull the new one through. So any assistance any one can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Troy

I am not aware of how to move it but think I have the same issue. What are you replacing the wiring with...direct connect?? Thanks

I am replacing the thin cable that is installed from the SeaWatch TV antenna on the radar arch to the signal booster located behind the TV in the galley cabinet. This cable is very thin and has screw on F type connectors. Although they may work for some I don't think they are the best for a boating environment. The TV gets 1 to 3 channels with this setup. I temporarily "direct connected" a new RG6 cable with crimp style from the antenna to the booster with the cable run out in plain sight to test the issue. I did a rescan on the TV and I picked up over a dozen stations. When I went back to the old cable I was down to 1 station. The existing cable runs from the antenna to just behind the rear-facing starboard seat back and is barrel connected to a thicker cable with crimped F connectors but the crimps are not of a good quality. So I am now just trying to replace the existing cable with the new cable. However, since the old cable is wire tied to other cables I can't use it to pull the new one through. I need access behind the starboard side cabinets so I can route the cable through the bulkhead and behind the bathroom to the galley cabinet.

Thanks

Download the owners manual, there are many cutaway drawings showing hose routings and how all the bulkheads go together. A download lets you zoom. They don't show wiring but you can get ideas. It looks like the storage shelf above the aft cabin seat should come out. Open things up, remove drawers and look for hidden screws.

You don't have to remove the old cable. Can you get access at both ends and snake it through?

I can get to the both sides but only at a distance. And since the bulkhead is sealed with spray foam I will probably have to drill a new hole and seal the penetration afterward. I have downloaded the manual for my specific model and can see all the routing of cables and hoses. The problem is after removing the aft cabin curtain rod, the panel the curtain rod attaches to, the starboard cabinet door as well as any screws I can see inside the cabinet, the cabinet only wiggles but does not move. I am hoping I am just missing something as I really should not have to remove the headliner and all the aft cabin interior just to access the wires, hoses and starboard fuel tank fittings behind the cabinet. However, in Four Winns defense I will say "Damn, they are some well made boats!"

Thanks.

I was hoping that you would figure it out, who knows might have to get in there someday myself. The manual seems to show that the cabinet sits on a shelf. I'm guessing there is some hidden fastener you missed.

Can you go in the engine room and look back along the starboard fuel tank and see the shelf?

Try pinging wkearney, he has taken pretty much everything apart on four winns cruiser. He taught me how to remove the drawer and panel under the bed to access the water tanks and pump. I had to use that twice now. You have to remove the drawer reach in the hole and feel around for screws.

I have looked from the engine room but there is a vertical board there blocking the view with various electrical and genny fuel lines/filters attached. Also being 6' 5" I am never going to fit in that area very easily. Yes, you are right the unit does sit on a shelf and I can see it through the holes in the starboard fiberglass behind the cockpit seating backs.

I agree, wkearney has phenomenal information on these Vistas. In fact, I even searched all his posts looking for instructions. And a special "thank you" goes out to him for the disassemble instructions for the rear cockpit seating area. This site is the absolute best when it comes to anything Four Winns related.

I did eventually install my new RG6 cable by routing the cable from the port side radar arch to behind the power panel, then over the cabin headliner, using the wiper motor access panels, then down behind the galley cabinet to the booster. I split the cable after the booster and ran another RG6 back out to the port side radar arch and now have a 22" LED/LCD television (Thanks again to someone on this forum) installed on the arch above the sink. However, I am still trying to get behind the mid cabin cabinet for personal knowledge now. If I do figure it out I will post the instructions.

Thanks

Sounds like a nice setup on your arch, do you have any pics? I was thinking of staying around 17-19" on the arch since the factory setup is only 15". But I'll might do what you did since I won't run with the tv mounted to the arch. Gotta get the TV up this sat since the Flyers will be nationally broadcast tossing around Montreal again! I'm also going to route the TV audio through the topside speaker system.

I finally got some pics of my Radar Arch TV project. Like you, the TV will not stay on the arch except when in use and not underway. I used an articulating mount so I can swing the TV into the best position. It tightens in position and does not move with wave action at all. I also installed an additional Clarion Auxiliary audio plug on the arch behind the TV so I can plug in the TV sound as well as an iPod at the cockpit galley. The Auxiliary audio plug is plugged into the Stereo aux input and the sound can be pumped throughout the boat or just the cockpit. The system sounds great.
