What type AC ?
Self contained/built in,portable?
Do you need reverse cycle air/heat ?
How many BTU's required ?

Looking for an installed gen set ?
Portable generator?
How many KW?

Depending on which way you go, cost would be anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000
for equipment alone. Labor at $85 per hour on top of that. Figure 8 to 12 hours
minimum to install both at a yard.
Of course less if you plan on installing both systems yourself.

A previous thread which touches on your questions.

DeadRight, Welcome to the board!

You really do need to narrow it down some, as mentioned above, many options. How thick is your wallet?? and how much are you willing to spend?
Once you figure that out, we can throw ideas your way.

Looking for the best option at the least cost. Is portable better than a perminant generator? In regards to the AC unit, it would be self contained and only AC and a portable unit. Was wondering if they made any that would fet directly into the deck hatch?

Powellcrazy, my family and I only use the boat at powell. I was looking thorugh some of your photos and noticed you had a TV and what I believed was a portable Honda gen? Does that give enough power and do you just plug it into dockside power?

Thanks for the help.

This again depends on how you want to use, and how much you want to spend.
I think the ultimate would be to have a onboard gen set, all you goto do is turn on and hit start, and have A/C 110v power. Down side, $10,000
Yes I have the Honda EU2000 portable ($875), I had added cleats to swimdeck to hold it down, also added a power outlet in the transom locker to plug generator into so no cords draped all over to trip on.
I also like having the portable, can move to beach when camping, as to move vibration and little noise it makes, away from boat.
Use honda to power our camp trailer when dry camping in mountains, and have used at home during power outages. The honda is a handy little unit.
The EU2000 is not much bigger than my Igloo lunch box, weighs 47 lbs, 53 db (very quiet), 1 gallon of fuel at 25% load lasts over 12 hours.
I bought mine many years ago from http://www.mayberrys.com I don't know where your located, but if its near SLC, I recommend Sampson equipment.

Yes I have installed a 22" HDTV. Had enough watching movies on laptop!

Yes the Honda EU2000 provides enough power for our needs. Its specs are 2000 watts max, 1600 watts continuous. Our air conditioner is only a 5000 BTU unit, it only draws 9 amps max. TV draws 70 watts, microwave is 900 watts.
Now, I can't run everything at once, got to know what appliances are in use and there watt/amp draw and stay under 1600 watts.
Fridge, and battery charger are drawing power as well.
When generator is on beach, I have a 5 gallon gas can feeding the gen set, with a avg burn rate of 8 hours per gallon, this will run for a few days use.

Now for hatch mounted air conditioners, yes they are available, someone posted here on this site that they are in the $900 range. My opinion, if your going to spend that much, buy a mermaid marine air conditioner unit and install your self for $1200 ish. Then will be permanently mounted and out of the way.

Do some searching on this site for info on each of these different topics, tons of info.

Good luck with what ever you go with

I was wondering if you or any else have any pics of the outlet install in the storage locker? I thought this was well cover in another thread, but I'm having trouble finding it. Also any info on the wiring (what gauge), and the method used to wire into the main panel. I have the Honda, now I am just trying to figure out the best way to use it without to many tripping hazards! Thank you in advance!

14 gage wire will work, 12 would be better.

I ran 12 gage up to beaker panel and connected to OEM shore power connection, yes I know that other outlet is live when power is put to either out let.
Made a 3' power cord male connections on both ends, to connect gen set to transom locker outlet!
