Hey guys,

We're having a problem with the generator. It will start up and about 10 seconds later conch out. We can start it again and it does the same thing. Seems that its not getting gas. Any ideas?

Also, are we supposed to have a filter on the intake vent of the ac? Seems there should be a filter somewhere.

We're in the Florida panhandle so yall pray for us. We probably only have two or three more oil-free weekends.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds more like a lack of water flow (coolant) type shut down. Is it running smooth for those 10 seconds? Does yours have the display that shows a fault code such as LOC? Is water flowing out the exhaust when its running for those 10 seconds? If not, check your sea strainer first. If its not plug then its likely an impeller issue. I'd put money on one of those two simple fixes.

Hmm....now that you mention it...I didn't see water coming out like I did when we used it last. I'll check that out. Thanks!

That's got to be it then. Like I said, check your strainer first. I just had mine shut down after sucking up some leaves. Unscrew the top, pull the screen out and even drain the bowl and see what's in there. With the cap off, also, open the sea cock back up a little to see if water is flowing to be sure there isn't something plugging it on the buttom of the hull. Just remember water should flow in pretty fast. If all seems ok there, put it back together and pull the impeller out.

I bet it will be in pieces. Try to save them all and piece it back together so you know none of the pieces are lodged in the coolant lines or exhanger.

Good luck!

does the genny run fine when running other items? If it shuts off no matter what its powering, you may just have a low oil level. Its happend to my buddy a few times.

We've only tried to use the microwave.

Anyone know about the ac filter?

What do you want to know? The ac filter is a bowl that unscrews and can be cleaned out. It is just upstream from the AC seacock. Is you AC working?

Yes its working. We were just wondering what kind if maintenance was necessary. Seems like there would be an air filter on the intake vent. You know...like you have in your house? We'll check the filter you mentioned. Thanks again!

regarding the gen set stalling; i had a similar problem with my 5kw kohler. spoke to my dealer, was told to replace spark plugs. i thought he was joking, but it worked like a charm. i also agree you need to see a good flow of water from the exhaust, but usually, it takes a little time to get it so warm, it'll stall.
