Does anyone know what the trailering switch is for? I have one located under the dash next to the lanyard kill switch. There is nothing in the manual about it. Thank you, Eric (elmwood) |

I think that may lift the outdrive all the way up Eric... like when it is loaded on the trailer. At least that's what it was for on a Merc O/B I had... Never run it in that position or it will thrash out your uni joints pretty quickly. ![]() |

On A Volvo, that has this switch, the drive will only trim up to a point that has been determined to be acceptable for running. In order to get the drive to come all the way up for trailering, you must press the switch (or button) as you are trimming up. This will allow the drive to go past the maximum up-trim running position. If your drive will go all the way up without using the trailer switch, then the system has been bypassed (just jumper across the switch). No big deal, just be aware of your drive trim position when running ... don't go too high. Our 97 245 Sundowner had this and it malfunctioned and I could not trim the drive up for the trailer. After researching how the system worked, I just bypassed the switch. Volvo eliminated this system quite a while ago. |
