Hello all from Ontario, Canada. Just sold my 2002 Sea Ray 260 and purchased a 2003 298 Vista. Quite a bit for me to learn about this boat. I'm sure I will have all kinds of questions and I have one now.
I checked out the operation of the windlass when surveying the boat but in my "controlled excitement", did not look at the anchor locker and chain/rode. How do I access it? Is it behind the V-berth mirror? Thanks..........

It is on my 2000 model. You have to take the mattress out and then unscrew 2 screws at the bottom and then the top just slides out (if memory recalls correctly).

298VISTA2000, thanks for the information on the anchor locker!

Decision(Mike), we have a slip in Meaford Ontario (Georgian Bay). Have had the boat in the water for about 3 weeks. Will be pulling it out on Oct 2.

Congrats.

Where did you buy your boat from...that picture looks familiar.

On my 268...there is a SMALL access hole next to the windlass, not sure on the 298.

As opposed to almost being able to get your arm in, on the 268.

Thanks firecadet.
I bought the boat from a place in London, Ontario called Pier 74. You might have seen it on their website?

Congrats on the boat! I have a 2001 model and it's behind the mirror. Very easy to access.

mv22,

Meaford is a nice homeport. Not too far by boat to enter the Trent Severn waterway and not too far to head north and enter into the North Channel. You've got lots of waterway to explore.

Our home is about 15 minutes from Pier 74 where you purchased your boat as we live in London.

Enjoy the boat........

Mike.

It is behind the mirror - very small screw at the bottom of the mirror. Remove the screw and push up on the mirror from the bottom (do not pull out). You will then find a inspection plate. While in there check to see that the bitter end of the rode is tied to the cleat in the locker.

Nothing significant to post, just noting its interesting that three different guys posting from Ontario, Canada on this one thread, are all named "Mike".

No jokes required.

Mike.
