Below is the list of boats that Four Winns is bringing to the Ft. Lauderdale boat show, and you will notice a V305! This looks to be the replacement for the V288! I had heard through the grapevine  that this boat was in the works prior to my factory visit last month, and when I asked the guide if there was a replacement coming he said yes very soon but it's top secret....only R&D guys are allowed to see it. The anticipation is killing me....so my question is..who knows what? Has anyone heard any specs on this, or design style? I was told this project has been in the works since 2008 but was slowed due to the BK. If you have spec sheets, blueprints, or photo's and wish to remain anonymous please feel free to PM me

What happened to being excited about fixing up your current 268?

A 318 would still be a better deal than a new 305....and you can't beat this.

I will keep you posted if we do look at that 318 next time we are up your way.

I'm still excited to fix up the old Sea Pickle, and the list of winter upgrades is growing by the day, but if we keep taking these extended trips on the big lake I would like to switch over to twins. We are going to see how next summer goes with this boat and go from there. Over all we love our 268, but just wish we had the safety of twins and a little more beam like the V288 for those long trips.

Ask Cougarcruiser, he is the resident "insider" and 288 replacement authority.
30ft. LOA, Coming Soon (January 25, 2010)

Another good guess from December 2009 !

It is my understanding that Four Winns will no longer offer the V288 in its 2010 lineup. Might I suggest FW to make
the V305 I'll keep my fingers crossed.

This boat will be very different from what FW has put out in the past... look for less of a galley down below creating much more room and a few things added to the cockpit... dont forget about the hardtop.... think of it as a smaller V435. I saw two designs that were in the making and i do'nt knonw which they choose or went with features from each... but it will be AWESOME!

awww, thanks Cap'n. However, I can neither confirm nor deny.

I do agree with our resident rep from Twin City Marine though. As I understand it, it is a smaller version of a 435. There are some inherent design challenges with that - but I am sure the Four Winns designer working through those.

If this design goes well, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Vista line take one this new design over the next few years.

That is probably a good idea to lose the galley (or some of it). I have owned my 298V for 10 years and I bet I have only used the electric range a total of 10 times to actually cook something (if even that many times). Sink, microwave, fridge and a coffee maker is all you really need IMO.

I know allot of people that don't use their galley much, or have a cruiser and never stay on it, whether on the hook or at the marina. We are just the opposite, we stay on it almost every weekend and some 1 week stints during the summer and use all of the amenities, including the range.

I was glad to see reading thru Bliss36's blog this morning seeing photos of his wife using the galley to its potential. I have cooked allot on our 268 and continue to do so on the 318. Dont mean to hijack a thread, maybe should start another one, but anybody else use all the aminities on thier cruiser.

We belong to a Yacht Club with a restaurant and that probably explains why we don't use our range much but prior to joining the club, I used our Magnum Party Grill/Stove combo to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner on. Curious, what are you cooking down below that you can't cook on the Magma grill/stove combo? You must have a chef of a wife who knows how to cook real food. I just didn't like the odors associated with cooking in the cabin.

I think it should be noted, that the V305 will not lose the galley. Like The Kid said: "and a few things added to the cockpit", one of
which is the galley. It will be moved from the cabin to the cockpit (at least some of it), similar to several of the 28 to 35 foot express cruisers are doing with their 2011 and 2012 models. This has been a popular theme with Australian builders, and a few European builders for several years. They have called it "a single level entertainer main deck". We call it a cocpit. The 3 sided hardtops are very popular on these boats, now being called "sport coupes" rather than express cruisers.

Heavy galley user for us too. One of the things we liked about the 282 was the dual burner range and extra counter space.
In fact I cooked steaks on the grill last night, while the wife cooked rice in one pan, and vegetables in another pan in the galley.

Cap'n, I take it that this is an Austrailian/European built? If so (or if not), do you have any cockpit photos/images?
