So last year I had an issue with an old, musty, gas like smell in my bilge.

I had that all taken care of, and the bilge near the engine area looks/smells pretty good. I went to take some items out of the storage compartments in the V-berth today and noticed that it has a pretty good odor to it. What do I need to do to get rid of that odor from my front bilge area? I'm on a time crunch as in a few days the boat goes into storage for the winter and I won't see it again until early April.

Joe

I had the same thing on my 268, I poured some citrius bilge cleaner in the v berth compartment (before I put the pvc pipe in [Cap'n  ] and then ran the hose in the vee berth for several cylcles of the bilge pump, them poured more cleaner in and let it sit, never had another problem. Thats when I did the pvc pipe trick to keep the smell out of the vee storage area. Never did figure out what the issue was, but it never returned.

We used bilge cleaner as well with our 258.

One additional trick we were given was to use bounce dryer sheets in the cabin compartments for the winter storage. It keeps things smelling nice and fresh when you open the boat in the spring.

I'm going to flush it out with some citrus cleaner and let the bilge pump pump it out a few times. I don't recall letting it cycle a lot when I had originally cleaned it.

We do the bouce sheet and they are great. Another friend suggested soaking a towel in febreeze and letting it sit in the bilge all winter.

I may try that as well.
