First time caller, long time listener!

Can anyone give me an idea of how many adults can be comfortably seated in a 268?

Thanks for the answers.

what time of year and in which cabin and how well do they know each other ;)

I agree 4 is very comfortable, 5 is pretty easy, 6 can be done, more is too many.

My wife and I take 2 other couples (6 total) out all the time, but only if it's a short cruise and then everybody gets off at boaters beach. If you are refering to how many can fit around the U shape seating then I would have to say 4 total if you are eating, 5 if you aren't. I almost didn't buy a 268 because I didn't like the U shaped seating, but now I love it! It's awesome for drinking and playing cards!

As noted - If all are adults - 4 to 5 in the aft "U" and then two at the helm ... or three if you're cozy.

Agree with the posts above. On that size boat four is comfortable, six is doable, more is too many....at least too many for comfort. Our previous boat was a 24' Chaparral Signature and 6 adults was the most we ever put on it due to the comfort and crowding factors.

I've found that even on our 298 you really don't want to go with more than three couples if you want to be able to move around have room and be comfortable. We can do 8 adults without tripping over each other, but even on a bigger boat the cockpit starts to feel crowded with more than 6 adults. Kids....they're another story. And at least in my case, the kids like to hang out below deck while underway and on the foredeck (or in the water) while anchored.

Thanks for all the great answers! Sounds like the 298 is a better size for what we might be doing. 4 adults and 4-6 kids would be our usual load (or less).

Any other good Four Winns in this size category (29 foot area) that would be recommended for us to look at? Hopefully under $45,000 please!!! I know that would mean going older, I just don't know how old to go, and what would be a good price for an older boat? :?

In the 29-30 foot range, and your intended price range, the 298 is about all you have to choose from with a Four Winns. The 288 is not big enough for your needs, and you probably will not find one for less than $45K anyway. FW has some nice older models in the size you would like, but not sure how old you are willing to go. I'll spare you any comments about other builders to look at in this size range.

Good Luck

The older Vista 285 and 315/325 can be had for a very reasonable amount of $.... You have to be willing to look over the fact that they are older and can need alot of work to make them look good. The only drawback for me was the fact that most came with the OMC engine/drive combos... The 315 is an inboard boat (or vice versa) so it would be more desirable. All this depends on your budget and whether or not you wanted to be able to trailer to different locations
