One of the things I need to fix on our 298 is the screen on the sliding companion way door. The screen material is torn and coming out. I can fix it if I can figure out how to get it out of the boat. Any experience getting this thing out?

I have reworked mine a couple of times. Getting mine out was fairly self explanitory, which leads me to believe that your setup might be different than mine since you are asking the question.

I simply took out the screws /clips holding the screen in place (very much like mirror clips), removed the screen frame, pulled out the rubber keeper out of the groove, stretched the new screen and worked the rubber keeper back into the groove one side at a time while the wife pulled the screen material tight.

Correct, the 298 has a sliding screen and door, rather than a swing door/screen. Like this.

I seem to recall the upper screen in our 348 was held in with a rubber gasket. Residential screens often use the same kind of setup. I'm handy but prefer to pay someone else to fix screens. There seems to be a knack for getting the correct tension in the material and making it look right. My guess the real challenge would be removing the door to do it, or wrestling with it in place.

Yeah, the challenge seems to be getting it out of the boat. I can most certainly handle replacing the screen and rubber gasket/band that holds it into the frame without issue.

The thing that sucks, is that the screen is messed up on the lower left side of the door....well...this part is not exposed when you close it, otherwise I wouldnt even have to remove it.
