I guess I'm going to have to take on this same project.



Until I tackle that galley sink, i still need to get this sump working again for the shower and head sink. The float is up, but the pump doesn't operate. ugh.

Oh man that looks nasty!! Try disconnecting your pump and float switch and take it off the boat and clean it real good. Then of course clean the sump and see what happens. After one overflow mess I've become militant about checking my every weekend. My pump is on a quick disconnect plug so I unplug it and clean it maybe once a month but because we use our sink and shower alot it tends to stay pretty clean now. I did have to replace the whole unit last year because the lid was cracked and the float wasn't working very well even when cleaned.

I have an 08 V358 and I had problems with the float switch from day one. I finally replaced the float switch last summer and it has worked fine ever since. Does your over ride switch in the breaker panel turn on the pump? That is what I used when the float was not working. I just had the marina where I store my boat for the winter re-route the galley sink and the shower drain both directly overboard so I won't ever use the sump box again. They did all the plumbing work and added the new thru hull fitting and it only cost me $345.00.

345.00 seems reasonable considering the alternative. May have to look into this next year.

They were able to find a spot below the shower drain to plumb a thru-hull that would be above the water line?

You are luck that the shower drain is above the water line. Most of us can not do that!!

I just tackled the job of piping the sink overboard....

Two things I suggest and one I must thank my buddy with the same boat.

1. On the 328, there are two factory thru hulls on the port side. I placed mine right inline with those.
The sink drain hose went through the head and then down to the sump.
I cut the hose at the bathroom and drilled my hole there to keep all the thru hulls in line.
This kept some of the guess work about where and "is it above the water line enough" out of the equation.

2. Another suggestion is to look online for a replacement sink drain.
Get a 5/8 drain instead of the 3/4 drain to make your kitchen sink hose the same size as the head's.
These drains all fit the same sized gallery sink and are easy to install - they just transition to a larger hose.

My A/C T'd with the Galley to empty into the sump box.
I cut the hose as close as I could to the T and then put a cap in to prevent anything from ever leaking out.

Now if I think I want to rewire the sump box to a seperate switch so I can turn it one when I know someone is taking a shower.

Digging up an old thread... can anyone confirm it's a 1" thru hull? Was looking to tee into the head sink thru hull but finding the right size fitting is next to impossible, so a new thru hull it is...

You might try Greatlakesskipper.com or other marine hardware distributors. You might be able to compare the IDof another thru-hull on your boat to see what size you need.
