Any fellow Vista owners have a good way to strap a couple of bikes onto the boat? Our summer plans include visiting area marinas and exploring the towns by bike. Just not exactly sure yet how I'm going to secure the bikes to the boat for the ride down the bay. Any ideas? |

bungee cords on the bow rail in a spot that won't affect your docking abilities. Use towels to protect the stainless and the bike frames. works great. |

I searched for a "boat" bike rack for a while and finally just ended up using a decklid mount bike rack for and suv. It rests on the rear grab handle nicely, and uses 2 strap run thru the grab handle to secure it. It worked great on our trip last year were we traveled almost a 1000 miles and got in some very rough water conditions(5-8 footers)! Here's the one I used. http://motobatteries.com/p-398-motobatteries-3-bike-suvvan-mount-carrier.aspx ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That set-up looks really nice on the back of the boat like that. The only problem I would have is it would block my transom trunk and that's where I keep my lines and fenders. It's also where my shore power and water hook-ups are located. I think I'll have to find a good way to secure them to the bow rails. |

Bliss36 wrote: Maybe something like this will work? http://www.bikesonboats.com/ The bow location is likely to get a lot of spray. If you're in salt water that's going to be hard on the bikes. The transom area is likely to get less spray. Or just a get a cheap set of bikes and expect to give them to a charity after a few years. Sometimes that's less expensive than having a 'better' bike get ruined. |

That bike rack looks very nice on the back of the boat. I think I have room to do the same on my H220SS it has the extended swim platform. Thanks for the idea! ![]() |

jenniferhoops wrote: Place your bikes on the front area of your boat and cover them with plastic cover and tie them with your boat properly. The problem with covering in plastic is that traps humidity. Better to have a canvas cover of some sort. That'd keep the spray off but would still let it breathe during the day/night changes in temperature. |

Boaters Bike Rack wrote: Hi all, maybe this can help you out. You need to have at least an 18" bow rail to use. http://www.boatersbikerack.com jenniferhoops wrote: Place your bikes on the front area of your boat and cover them with plastic cover and tie them with your boat properly. If you go to http://fendergrip.com/cg.html there is a product called "Cyclegrip". It is the only true bike carrier made for boats. Carries 3 bikes. Made of 6061 T-6 aluminum, welded frame, and powder coated white. All hardware is stainless steel. It attaches to your transom rail and rests on the swim platform; no drilling or modifications needed to your boat. Attaches and removes quickly. Priced at about $300, but worth it IMHO.
