I have a 1999 Four Winns 258 Vista. A 5.7 280 HP Volvo Penta engine. When I drop the throttle down to idle the rpm's stick around 1200. I have to lift the engine hatch and push on the cable to slow it back down so I can dock the boat. Do I need to replace the throttle cable? If so, do you know the length of cable or the replacement? Or should I just replace the whole control? Thanks |

It sounds like you will most likely need to replace the cable. If so, you should be able to get the part number off the Four Winns website or by calling a dealer. However, it could just be out of adjustment. Fortunately, I've got a good boat mechanic that I trust. If it were my boat, I'd take it in to him to have him tell me what needs to be done. |
