I have a 2001 298 Vista. I just replaced the fuel pump on the port engine. Also, the impellars were both changed. The mechanic hooked his computer up to the engines. The temperature never exceeded 160 degrees.

Went to the lake this weekend and the audible alarm was going off on the port side. Has anyone had this happen? Could it be my thermometer gauge/sensor is stuck and needs replacing?

It seems when they go off the engines go into a "protection mode" and the boat will not plane off. I set idle for a few minutes and then things were fine...was able to plane off once again.

There is a second alarm on the manifold/riser. If that overheats, there is no gauge to check. Your engine temp will stay normal. If you get a thermal temp gun you can check the temp of all parts of the engine.

My mechanic was back on the boat today. The problem was, in fact, a clogged manifold. TSK139...you were absolutely right. Apparently, it was not circulating water properly, therefore, it was causing the engine to overheat with hot water.
