We own a 97 238 vista and last year the trim tab fluid ran low.I added fluid and looked for a breaker on the trim tab unit and no success. The tabs dont work still. My question to the vista guru's is: is there a breaker or maybe it needs to be bled???? Any advice is very apppreciated. thanks, ShipFaced |

Sorry can't help with the problem as I dont have trim tabs fitted to my 238, but welcome to the forum. I'm sure someone will be along shortly with some advice. Oh! let me be the first to say we need pictures. |

Frist I would see if there is power going to it, if no, than I would look for a fuse. I "think" it would be in the DC fuse/breaker panel. If there is power, the "pump" power unit should make noise. Go to:http://www.bennetttrimtabs.com/pdf/trobIcon/trimtab_troubleshooting.pdf |

I have had problems with mine in the past. After sitting all winter, the motor didn't want to spin. I pulled the cover off and with someone holding the switches at the helm, I lightly tapped the motor with a hammer (lightly!) and it started spinning. Put your ear close to it while someone presses the switches. You should hear a clicking, but if the motor doesn't spin, it could be frozen. I got two additional years out of it using this method but eventually replaced it last summer. My boat is a 2004. I typically have to add a little fluid throughout the season, but your fuid vanishing is another issue. |
