2003 four winns vista 268

I had it dewinterized and all systems checked a few months ago. They said the sea water pump was primed and ready to go. I just needed to open the sea cock. Today opened the sea cock, turned the ac on for 5 min and no water out the side of the boat. I shut it off and went back to the dock.
checked sea cock- clean
took hose off pump- water flow was good
took hose off other side of pump and water flowed through the pump. i did put my finger over the hole and it did not seem to have any pressure or power.
blew air into that hose and there was only a small amount of water in it, but nothing seemed to be clogging it.
hooked everything back up- started ac no water out side and ac shut down (code i think was high pressure or bad water pump psi under 30)
ac does kick on and ac water pump was hot.

do you think it is the water pump? Can you rebuild vs buy new?
and where does the power from the water pump run to. AC unit or control panel. it looks like it could be a pain to fish the wire all the way up to the control panel.

thanks for the help?

You should be able to feel the side of the AC pump and tell if the impeller is moving or not.

I slowly unscrew the strainer while the AC is on and that will help purge the air out of the system and make it start pumping water.

What kind of pump is it? If it is a march pump you can get a rebuild kit for them. The power from the pump will more than likely be fed from the control panel on the AC itself.

Sounds like you might have an air pocket in the system. Try forcing water with a garden hose into the thru hull in the side of the boat(where the water normally runs out with the a/c on) until you see bubbles come out from under the boat...then turn the a/c on. I used to have to do this all the time when I still had the March pump....I haven't had to do it since I replaced the pump with a Cal pump.

taylor made 250gph.

Should there be pressure going through the pump? like if you put your finger on a garden hose.

I do the same thing as Bliss. I prime the pump thru the hull.
I turn off the system, making sure the seacock is open, take a garden hose and put it against the discharge and fill it with water. Do this for about 20/30 seconds or so.
Then I turn on the system.....

Usually works for me.

That happened to me last year. I took my special tool, rubber mallet, and whacked it a couple times. It ran all season.

Going thru the same thing rite now with our 04 268, AC was running fine then all the sudden water was down to a trickle, checked the strainer and it was full of junk, cleaned strainer and now AC will not circulate water, tried bleeding off air by loosing strainer, tried putting water into outlet, the only thing have not done it to take for a ride to see if that forces air out, got my fingers crossed that works.

i took the pump apart and it does not kick on unless i help it. I will be replacing the pump for 250.00.

the new question is. Can i just splice into the old wire or should i run the new wire up to the ac unit. there is not much room to work with down there and tryng to get the cable ran may be a pain. I was just thinking about splicing it to the old wire.
