Hi all. I have a 1996 Vista 238 currently in the shop, but trying to order parts for. I'm trying to determine which pumput adapter I need for the deck waste fitting. I believe it is one of these two: 1.25" http://www.amazon.com/Sealand-Noz-All-P ... 626&sr=8-1 or 1.5" http://www.amazon.com/Sealand-Noz-All-P ... 626&sr=8-2 Does anyone happen to know? Also, I have a macerator pump inline of the waste fitting. If I use a standard dock pumpout station, do I need to turn on the macerator pump, or will the dock pump pull the waste through it? |

Dock pump will pull the waste out. Deck fitting is for 1-1/2" hose. Why would you need an adapter ? The dock pump out will have one that fits right in the the deck fitting. At least every pump out in my area does. |

At least every pump out in my area does. I was told that Lake Powell pumpout stations don't have the deck fittings - only the hose since they kept getting stolen. These are free dump stations that are likely not manned. Thanks for the help! |

I also have the same 1995 Vista 238. Did you find the size of the adapter. Was it 1 1/4, 1 1/2, or 1 7/8. Thanks |

The Amazon price on those fittings are terribly high. You can get the same fittings (1-1/2") at a farm supply store. They're used for fertilizer spray equipment too. Where I live there is Farm and Fleet and Tractor Supply. What I do is make the adapters with a clear piece of hose in between two fittings so you can see that something is flowing. Not that seeing the waste flowing is pretty, but the lake I go to the most has issues with the pump and sometimes it acts like it's working when it's not. The two fittings are: 1. 1-1/2" male pipe thread/ 1-1/2" hose barb 2. 1-1/2" hose barb/ 1-1/2" quick connect. I get the 1-1/2" clear vinyl hose from a local hardware store. It only needs to be long enough to slip over the barbs and leave an inch or two for the view window. Just connect the barbs and use a couple hose clamps. I think I figured I was spending $10-$12 at the time to make them. It's probably a little more than that now but it's certainly less than $27.50 for one fitting. You can also just use the fitting as pictured on Amazon and it will cost a lot less. If anyone's interested I can snap a picture. |

I was cleaning up the shop a little tonight and decided to uncover the boat for a while so I snapped a picture of the adapters I put together. ![]() The second one is the one I use for my boat because the previous owner put a chrome plated male quick adapter with a cap on the waste fitting, so I don't have to thread anything. |
