I looked at a few 298s. The only thing I dont like about them is the front berth layout. Not into climbing over someone in the middle of the night to go do your business. The new 288 has a staight berth in front instead of the dinnette. Much more function down below no IMO.

If you are even more adventurous, try making the trip up to Canada.
Here is a dealer with several prices posted so you can get another viewpoint on prices. I bought my boat from this dealership and have
found them great to deal with. They have a loaded 278 from 89,000 Cdn.
Right now, 1.00 (US$)= .90 Cdn.

Interestingly, I am leaving for Canada today! However, I'm headed to British Columbia and not Ontario.

89,000.00 CAD = 80,226.47 USD

That's actually not out of line with what my local dealer is offering, only slightly less.

This is sure an interesting experience. I've received prices anywhere form $111K from a dealer in TN to $65K from a dealer in CT for a similarly equipped 278. It's just amazing to me the prices vary that much.
