Post subject: | A/C Rust |
Gents, The previous owner re-routed the A/C drain tube to the bilge. I noticed this weekend that there was some rusty water accumulating. Sucked it out with the wet-dry vac. Seems to be coming from the A/C unit. Upon inspection, the pan that water collects in on the A/C always holds some water since the drain hole sits up about an 1/8". The pan has some rusty spots on it. Is this typical? Short of removing the unit, sanding it down and repainting, are there any other options? It's a CruiseAir, BTW. Craig C. |

I know there is a stainless steel pan a few people have been getting from Cruisair to replace the rusty one. My new unit has a plastic pan, but my old one was in decent shape. |

Mine is a little scuzzy from water sitting in it but no rust, yet. It looks like the pan is just white painted or powder coated steel, no rust though. Its a 5000 btu cruisair |

Yep this is normal. You can put a rubberized coating on it. Or at work we use stuff that is call pancrete which is a self leveling coating. This stuff is not a permanent fix you will have to do it every 3 or 4 years. |

I'll get a quart and give it a whirl. Thanks, Craig C. |
