Does anyone know where to source the shower/toilet door handle/lock for my 2006 vista 348. A small spring in the inner mechanism has broken and it cant be fixed. Or at least with my limited ability.

They're standard lock assemblies. The one on my forward berth door also broke. Not really a great design, it's two sheetmetal plates with the striker sort of just 'resting' in there. I looked into replacing mine by haven't gotten around to it. I seem to recall there's a brand name stamped on the lock assembly, I think it's Mobella. You can remove it by removing the two screws on the edge and an allen set screw in each handle.

I think these are the ones: http://www.southco.com/class/ma-swing-d ... -7407.html

Let me know if you find a good price for this. Last time I looked into a replacement for our 328, cost was in the $3-400 range. I ended up fixing mine.

After the tip from Bill I have sourced a southco supplier in Australia where I am from with a cost of about $160 AUD. Dont like the sound of the $3-400 range either. Have already fixed this latch once but the last time it got slammed shut the spring failed and it was an ordeal to break in. So new one on the way. The part no for mine is southco Part Number: MA-01-220-02-10. Good luck. I am sure you could source one in the states cheaper.

I was leery of fixing mine because the design seemed like it was only going to break again soon. I didn't price it, had I seen a $300 price tag that definitely would have nixed it. But then I only need it for the forward berth door, the head door is a little more important.

The one thing I never figured out what do I need a left or right one? The difference being which way the striker is angled for when the door shuts.

I had mine break on my last boat. I cant remember the brand it wasnt Southco, I know that, the lock lever has the name of the company on it, I searched it and found them. I went direct and if memory serves, it was just over $100.00 for a new latch.

Still pricey but beats 300.

FYI

The right hand in/ out thing was confusing but you need a right hand out which means the handle points to the right and the door pulls out (or towards you). Right hand in is handles point right door opens in. Therefore the only difference is the striker. Left in /out you can work on the same formula. Cheers
