Hello, I was looking to put a windlass on my 2000 268 and I was wondering what everyone else might be using to include 10 to 15' of chain. |

The Lewmar V700 is what you should go with. Plenty of us have done it including I on this forum. As for a rode and anchor that is debatable. Where do u plan on anchoring? How deep? What is the bottom like? The more info you give us the better we'll be able to answer. |

Here's another link that will be helpful. Let us know how it goes. I'm considering a similar install on my 258 this off season. http://www.smwebhead.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=977&p=6927&hilit=windlass+install#p6927 |

On my last boat, an 03 268, I put on a lewmar h700. I used it for a few years, but always had trouble with the rope coming off the gypsy at the most inopportune time, so I put a V700 on, and it was much better. On my current boat it has the maxwell on it, and if I had to do it over I would put a vertical maxwell unit on. Whatever the size they put on from the factory. Just seems to me the Maxwells are built heavier. Just my .02 cents |

With 3' waves with 20mph winds, it held!! When I first started boating, poeple told me 10 to 15' is all I needed. The old timers said no, for 30' for a 26' boat, and they were right. If a storm come up, you wish you had it. |
