End of the year blowout pricing on some new boats made me do it, plus the dealer was pretty generous on the trade $$. I went with a Crownline E6 (26' deck style boat) which will suit what the family wants to do a little better plus it has an insane amount of storage. It has a decent sized head (wife's happy), it has a small block block but with F4 props and a 2.14 drive it pulls great so the kids can ski again so they are happy, not having to fiddle with the tabs and trim every 30 seconds makes me happy.

Little better mpg makes everyone happy, plus the cleaner exhaust makes the fish happier I suppose :)

I really liked the 248, was great boat and was very well put together but we were just using it for a day/lake boat and we were using most of the cabin for storage. Choice was a bigger cruiser with a more open cockpit ($$) or a large bowrider/deck style boat.

Took a chance on Crownline, they were recently bought out so hopefully they stay around a while. These days you never know with any of them though.

Going to miss this forum, good group of people here with lot of experience and little drama.

No reason to quit coming round. You have had experience with the 248 to pass on. You can tell us what you think of the Crownline.

I'll still be around, just not as often, I do know the 248 from one end to the other thats for sure, but there are a few others here that know them just as well.

I like the Crownline so far, rigging is nice and I havent found anything I really dont like except the anchor locker is a little small for a 26.5' boat and they put the battery switch under a seat cushion thats a bit of a pain to remove/replace. Has one of those fancy masterflush toilets in it which is the nicest marine/RV toilet I have seen so far. Time will tell though, its the first year of a brand new hull/design so who knows.

Congrats on the deal. The pocket cruisers like the 248, no matter what brand, are a difficult sell these days. More often than not, the quickest way to move one, is to trade it in. Glad it worked out in your favor. You will like the Crownie. They have always made good boats, and the new owners are actually the former owners from several years back and are good people.

I was going to try to sell the 248 outright, I owned it so its a little easier to sell outright instead of dealing with a financed boat but I see a lot of small cruisers in my area that are well priced and decent looking boats that have been for sale over two years at a dealer/broker and I didnt want to be a two boat owner.

Plus we have to pay 8% sales tax here so trading it in saved me nearly 2700 in tax as opposed to selling outright and buying another boat.

I'm sure the dealer made money, but I did a lot of searching and calling and the price they had the Crownline for was pretty low compared to other dealers so I think I did OK.

Few pictures from today, it was raining so I snapped a few pics, have 12 hours on it already and except for a couple minor issues (depth sounder and holding tank gauge not working right) I have no problems at all.

Its a fairly good sized boat, its 26'4 overall which is a couple inches longer than the 248 with the paltform. But yea, most 24'+ bowriders/deck boat heads are pretty much storage space for most. This one I can use (I'm 6'4 235lbs) and it comes with a fancy 'flushmaster' electronic vacuum/macerator toilet, nicest I have seen on a boat/RV.

Main thing I miss from the 248 is the fridge, nice to always have cold drinks on board.
