Post subject: | Strong Smell of Gas |
I just put my 2001 268 Vista in the water yesterday. There is a strong smell of gas in the cabin. Any suggestions as to how I should find the cause? |

Whatever you do, don't ignore it. I'd get in the engine compartment and check the fittings and hoses. Start at the tank and follow it both directions, to the filler and the engine. Does the bilge have a strong odor? Did you fuel it before launching? Make sure your hoses are supported and not rubbing on somrthing. Starting the engine for the first time this season it's possible you may have flooded the engine and that is what you are smelling. |

The dealer went on the boat and drove it for awhile but couldnt replicate a gas smell. I will go up again next week and be on it for 5 days....hope it is not an issue. |

2 hours on our 278 and I'm smelling gas too. I have some other issues for my dealer to look at, so we'll see what happens. |
