Yeah, I don't understand the pricing at all, especially when dealers at the boat shows are offering between 45% and 60% off the sticker.

Might be something like the bazaar, where the listed price is shown just for someone dumb enough not to know that haggling is to be expected. Ran into that when shopping in the medina in Morocco. The list price makes it possible for them to make a week's worth of profit off just one or two naive tourists. Lots of the time haggling is a way to pass the time and have a bit of fun. It's not specifically oriented toward screwing anyone. But many western tourists don't grasp that concept, and find themselves at a disadvantage. It's those same tourists that shop and run the shops back here, so haggling gets a bad rap.

Me, I'm always ready to negotiate "a bit". I'm fond of the saying "if you don't ask, you don't get".

But to haggle down from $450k to $200k? That seems ridiculous.

$450k at any aspect is ridicules for that boat...in 2009 I had priced out a loaded 358 (current 375) with my dealer at an actual price of $280k, not sure what the retail value was...he then found the left over 2008 at a LI New York dealer that was going under...had 95% of the same options we had priced out and I got it for $190k...$450 retail at any normal stretch of 20% off would bring you into the mid $300's and besides paying for a new "name" and a semi hard top what could possibly justify a $60-$70k jump in price...guess their view of the economic recovery is a bit different than others.
