I have a 1999 258 vista, need to remove the VDO cluster. There are no screws visible to remove the cluster, does anyone know how to remove this specific cluster? Thanks Matt

I have the same boat; in my mind's eye there are two Phillips screws in the forward lip of the helm cluster cover. Perhaps when removed they will allow the helm cover to lift sufficiently to clear the VDO module, once disconnected and unmounted.

You might try removing the compass, mounted in a cover hole just ahead of the VDO, to see what mounting hardware is accessible that way.

I did try removing the 2 screws forward on the helm cover but that does not allow the cover to raise enough to see or access the cluster. There must be kind of clip or something like that to release the guage cluster. I will try removing the compass and see if that provides any help.

Anybody else have any suggestions? Thanks

I think my 1999 Sundowner had some push on clips on the top edge of the instrument cluster trim; it didn't sem a very secure way of attaching the instrument pod.

Search VDO (I know there are a ton of posts) and I remember two years ago someone did a removal and they took pretty good pictures of the process. There on here somewhere.
