Just in case anyone else needs to know this, the hull on my 1999 Vista 328 is a solid 1" to 1 1/8" fibre glass. This was measured in the hull just in front of the starboard engine.

Here is a piece of the hull we removed to enlarge the hole for the new depth transducer:

That is one strong hull! No need for backer plates on this bad boy! :D

That's nice to see, I am not surprised, even on my old 88 Horizon, the hull sides seem thicker and more rigid than new boats I have checked out at the boat shows. I think there was more glass in the older boats.
