The time has come to replace our v berth matress for our 2001 298 vista....finally! Wondering if there is anyone out there that can recommend an online site for purchasing a v berth matress? We don't want to DIY it ..just looking for a reasonable and reliable site.

Sleepless in lake Champlain ...

We looked a few years ago and were stunned at the prices of a custom mattress. We ended up adding a 4" serta memory foam mattress pad and are very pleased with the improvement. We found the best rated pad at overstock.com for around $120.00, cut the king size pad to conform exactly to the mattress shape and put it on top of the existing mattress.

We figured it was worth a shot and we are in year 3 of this purchase. Just an idea.

We did the same with our aft cabin and have no complaints.

That's funny. I was talking with the old lady about if we ever purchased a Vista the first upgrade would be buy/cut memory foam mattress to fit

Hi,

Found a place in Toronto. 6 inch foam cut to shape, angled sides and everything. Covered in pillow top and done in one piece, as our old one was in 3 pieces. Got it for $400 plus tax and it fits perfectly.

Speent a lot of hours on the internet (google, kijiji, craigs list...) and long distance telephone calls to find something reasonable. Got quotes anywhere from the $400 we paid all the way up to $1,200 plus shipping from the states. You just have to find a place that makes mattresses on site and talk to the guy who actually cuts the foam.

Just spent our first night on it and it was worth the effort. It feels like a "real" mattress.

Now you've got my attention! I need to do something this year or I'll be sleeping alone in the boat. $400, and local sounds a bit too good. Do you have any more specifics on the foam that was used or a picture of the final product? Also if you can let me know where you had this made?
