Can anyone identify this electrical device in the engine room of my 2006 Vista 278? It measure 2.5 x 2 x 1.5 inches deep.

It's the Bennett automatic trim tab retractor - problem over.

My port side trim tab is very slow to retract. The motor is new and the starboard side works as normal. While searching this site, I came across this post. Could this be my problem? Is there one for each tab? What exactly does this device do? Thanks for any help.

This is likely not the problem in your boat. This device has a trigger on it from your ignition that once the ignition is turned off, it automatically retracts the tabs.
