My port side Bennett trim tab is very slow to retract on my 2004 Vista 268. I swapped the lines at the pump and the problem stayed on the same side of the boat, so I believe that isolates the problem to the actuator. The starboard works as normal. Any ideas? Are there re-build kits for these? Is it easy to do? Thanks folks! |

Does the boat stay in the water? If so, there may be a buildup of algea in the actuator if you are not vigilant about retracting them when you are done. |

It stays in the water and I am religious about retracting them. |

Update: I had a leak where the 90 degree elbow met the 3" nipple which went through the transom to the actuator (prior to this issue). The nipple unscrewed with the elbow. I repaired the leak with teflon and re-installed the nipple and elbow. I apparently stripped the female part on the acuator and shavings made their way into the actuator, blocking the tiny hole where the fluid goes through. New acuator on the way and all should be well when I install it. |
