Did you tap the tach a couple of times with you finger ? Sometimes it just needs a little jolt to straighten itself out. Had the same thing on occassion with our 2000 268V.

Hi all, I'm a new Four Winns owner from just north of Brisbane on the edge of Moreton Bay in Australia.

I have only had my 2005 Vista 268 for a few months and still learning. I have been reading this forum since before getting the boat and have already put into practice some useful info and tips.

I too have the dodgy high reading taco and am looking for a solution.

Before I go pulling the dash apart, any votes on a bad earth connection?

Regards

Ours did the same thing and a couple of gentle taps usually brought them back in line.

yep, mine too! Sometime's it kicks up to about 4800-5000 rpm, then back down to 3500-4000 with no change in engine rev/de-rev, etc.....a little unnerving...

I have had that problem as well on my 2005 268. Gentle taps or sometimes a good punch normalizes it but I have become adept at understanding the sound of the engine to monitor the rpm's.

Gentle tap... does it for me as well.

Haven't had a chance to try the tap method yet, I wonder if it would be worth taking to a instrument repairer for grease and oil change as something must be sticking?
