We have a 2000 238 Vista and it has a fish finder that the previous owner had placed to the right of the steering wheel near the side window. We were thinking about getting a GPS but not sure where we would mount it since the fish finder is in the most logical place. We don't want to remove the Fish finder if at all possible. And do you really need to permanently mount the GPS? Thanks for you help.

Why have two pieces of electronics when all you need is one? Purchase a GPS/Sounder combo and ditch the old fish finder.

This may be a silly question but I am typing this for my husband and he isn't around for me to ask so I will ask here. If we remove the old fish finder can we use the transducer (Think that is the word) that is there for the GPS?

Depends what your old fishfinder is. Maybe. Maybe not. If anything if you purchase a combo sounder/gps it comes with a new transducer and use the old one to feed the new wire. Not much work.
