Post subject: | make/model of portholes? |
Anyone know the make/model of the portholes used on the 2006+ Vista models? I've got one in the galley on our 348 and the bottom center screw post for the clamp has broken off (due to corrosion it would seem). It does not appear that this can be easily replaced. But then I can't be entirely sure as the porthole is tucked way back inside the galley cabinet and is a hassle to access. I only noticed it by chance when trying to determine why I have some water on the galley floor now and then. I have yet to find out the source for this. It does not appear to be the water system near the pump (under the forward berth). I've placed some strategic pieces of paper towel around and they're not getting wet between the pump and the damp spots. So it's got to be coming from somewhere else. It does not appear to have a salty taste so I don't think it's seawater. I have not gotten into the galley cabinet to see if it's the galley sink, faucet or lines behind it. But that port hole might be a source, if not 'the' source. Meanwhile I might as well figure on replacing the porthole. Thus my question, anyone know the vendor and model being used? |

The new models appear to use a different clamp style. One that clamps instead of turning. I'd prefer to avoid an assortment of different hatches, if possible. Although the one behind the galley is far enough away from the others as to not look odd if it were different. That and I'm not sure they're lewmar. Their website doesn't appear to show ones that look like what I've got installed. I think they're by Bomar-Pompanette: Sort of like these: http://www.pompanette.com/pompweb.nsf/7 ... enDocument |
