Hi gang, I was wondering if others have had issues with the city water inlet. I had a leak that kept filling the locker area, well yesterday it finally just came right out of the plastic housing. I got a replacement yesterday, installed and today while I was leaving to come home I saw water again leaking out of locker. I am pissed now!! I'm thinking really another leaker. Has anyone else had this issue? Should I try another one or different model. Cheers |

I just replaces mine with the chrome Jabsco, but haven't had it in long enough to see if its good or not. How much PSI do you have at the dock? Maybe try a water pressure reducer at the hose fitting on the dock? |

I think the one in my 348 leaks slightly too. Or at least did until I was back under there putting in a light (that was missing from the factory). I tightened up the back of mine and don't think it's been a problem. My additional problem was rain water getting in there and leaking down around the shower handle mounting hole. I had to drill a drain hole so it'd go out the back onto the platform area instead. Touched it up with a bit of gelcoat paint and now I have no more water problems in that locker. I may replace my shore water bib too, at some point. Which Jabsco did you use? Another tip, I picked up an angled hose shut off valve. It's bent about 22 degrees. This points the hose at a slightly more forgiving angle, and gives me a local shut-off. I have a straight one at the dock end. This gives me three ways to keep stupid people on the dock from turning my water back on while I'm away. The pedestal valve, my straight one and then the angled one in the boat's locker. You wouldn't think people would be so stupid about turning on their hose, but you'd be wrong... |

I replaced it with the jabsco just like the original. As for PSI, not sure but when the water is on it isin't very strong, like at my house. I would assume the chrome one is the same just in chrome. Just a note, but I even tried not turning the tap on as strong; leaks too. |

The Jabsco 44410 in my mind is not very reliable. I went though two replacements and both failed. I finally replaced with a Model from ShurFlo p/n 183-029-14 (chrome). It is slightly larger in diameter so had to widen hole but the device works great. It has a handgrip around the connection that helps for easy on/off. It has a slightly higher PSI limiter (I think 45psi whereby the Jabsco was lower like 35psi). I added a pressure reducer to my hose on the dock for added pressure security. |

I make it a point to do this after several years ago had a plastic quick disconnect fitting break while we wernet there. starting spilling water into bilge. Neighbor heard and saw and shut the water off. Since then I am pretty religous about shutting it off. |

For a while I was using a quick-disconnect to make it easier to connect the hose. Trouble is the salt air would corrode the hell out of the metal ones in no time (usually before the season was over). And the plastic ones break too easily. So I just went back to screwing it into the connector. Three times I've had someone trying to turn on the hose (my hose, not their own) end up turning on everything and leaving it that way. So short of disconnecting the hose entirely I went with in-line shut-offs instead. |

At least with the shut-off, which is metal, I'm only connecting to the hose's metal end (with teflon tape) and plastic on the boat. My problem with the metal quick-disconnects was inside the connections themselves. The machined surface of them just went wild with corrosion. With the metal shut off I've had the knobs break but at least with the teflon tape I can get it off the hose without losing both. I suppose a better or different grade of connector might help, but I've not found one yet. But then I haven't looked all that hard either. I'd certainly love to find some decent ones that would survive saltwater duty without costing an arm and a leg. |

I tell you I love the Shurflo inlet so much better than the jabsco. much better fitting. never leaks, always easy to tighten/untighten. no corrosion. PIA is you have to make hole bigger 3 1/2 ' diam instead of 3" diam |
