Hello,

I am looking real close at a 2000 268 Vista with 202 hours on the motor...real clean boat. I am looking for your feed back on how the boat runs, handles etc...and how much you 268 Vista owners like or not like your boat. Thanks for your observations.

Former 2000 268 Vista owner here. Had the boat for 6 years and was a very nice boat overall. Comfortable for 2 to 3 people on overnights, and 5 or 6 for trips on the water. It handled most conditions well, and was adequately powered. IMO it's in the top two of boats in that size range ever made. Good bang for the buck.

Likes-
Good mid cabin access
Roomy cockpit
Good close quarters maneuvering with Duo Prop
Reasonable on fuel

Dislikes-
Poor engine hatch design
"Flexy" foredeck
Hard to find/replace deck hatch, prone to leak after time
Narrow beam makes it seem "tippy" and sensitive to weight distribution

I bought a 2000 268 last year and I do love it!

I agree with Cap'n on the Dislikes though.

Check out the engine - I have the Big Block 454 in mine and it can handle a good 8-10 people. If you get the small block it is not as powerful.

It is weird but the Big Block actually gets better fuel economy because it cruises at a lower RPM.

Good Luck!
Trevor
