Check your fuse, make sure you have power to the switch, have someone push the button check for power at the horn. If you have power that far reground the horn if still nothing I would say you need a new horn.

Those horns do not last, I have replaced the one on my 88 200 Horizon twice since I've had it (10 years). Check for voltage at the terminals when someone operates the horn button but I would be surprised if it was not the horn.

Just went through this yesterday with my horn. Checked the fuse and the switch first but it turned out to be the horn itself. They just wear out I guess. Picked up a new one at West Marine today. Just waiting for the rain to quit now so I can install it.

At least the 245s don't have the trumpet style horns. They aren't that cheap.

I bought the West Marine horn, which is what is on my boat that doesn't work, and after reading the online reviews I'm taking it back. It was the only one they had in stock at the store. Guess I'm going to have to order something different.

Mine stopped working last year. I wacked it with my dock stick while pressing the button and it's worked great ever since!

Mine horn wasn't working this spring after a long winter's nap. It was an FIAMM horn. Had it at my local auto parts store for about $14. They had several, high and low tone. Picket the low tone, sounds fine. This is a pretty typical automotive part, was quicker, easier and cheaper than a marine one or ordering it online.

May not be "water resistant" like a marine unit but the first one lasted about 14 years, I can live with that if the new one lasts that long.

My horn quit too..I pulled it out and notices the tephlon covering came apart...left water splash in and killed it. They are FIAAM horns.....to get to waterproofing you need the whole deal....horn with new stainless cover etc...cost me 39......but..the horn itself is a plastic 9.00 horn at carquest the just slides into marine bracket.

If in question on proper model so size is correct....remove your horn and the model number is on stainless grill covering. Took all of three minutes to swap.

+1 LOL!!! Exactly the same thing I did to mine, That rubber mallet can fix many things and my horn was one of them it's working like a charm after I gave it a good whack! If that doesn't work they are really cheap to buy new from what I saw on amazon.

Gonna give mine a whack this weekend....if not, trumpets aren't cheap. Let's root for the mallet!
