Post subject:  Fresh Water pump help

I just bought a 2004 268 vista and it seems the fresh water pump is not working. I looked in the parts manual and the part number is for a flo jet 4405-143B. All I can find is a flojet with the same part number without the "b" designation and only ones with "a" designation. Are these pumps compatitable?

Thanks in advance!

It could very well be bad. Have you checked power and ground at the pump? that would be the first thing I would do.

I will check everthing this weekend while I'm at the boat. I was just checking the compatibility of the two pumps to have a part number in hand if it didn't work.

I searched the web, can't find a difference.

Just call and ask

The fresh water pump on my '02 Vista stops working periodically. I have found the wire connector to be a piece of junk. I have cleaned the connections up and put a new connector in place which seems to have fixed the problem.

I took the prior advice and after a while on hold with xylem the tech support guy told me that the "B" designation is the same pump as the "A". The "B" just means that Four Winns bought them in a package of 72 pumps per order and the "A" designation is for a single pump purchase. He aslo told me that the "marine" pumps are sold at a little higher price only becuse it says it is marine and the RV stores sell the same pump with the part number of 4406-143 for about $30 cheaper on average. Hope this helps someone else!

He also gave me a troubleshooting tip. He said to take off the cover by the two red wires and tape them together with the power off first of course. Then open the faucet and turn on the pump switch to see if it works. If so then the pressure switch is bad and if not the pump may be completely bad provided it is grounded and getting voltage.
