When we took delivery of our 278 I noticed the sound of the generator was extraordinarily loud in the mid-berth. I shoved paper towel in there and the dealer provided a tempory fix with expanding foam. Unfortunately it looks horrible right now. They will fix it properly, but this is what it looks like now.

THEN... While sitting in the "U-shaped" seating area outside I noticed the generator was quite loud as well. Yes, I know you shouldn't sit out there with the genset running due to CO, however...

I noticed yet another gap in the upholstery and the side of the boat. Here is a photo of that gap, again with paper towel stuffed in it.

Fit and finish on this brand new boat is bit disappointing thus far. :(

OH MY LORD.....

Dude, if my 248 was like that I would be pitching a fit... But the question is, did the dealer make these gaps worse.. Who in thier right mind would consider "expanding foam" as a fix? That is not how you fix things on something that costs six figures, let alone half that price! It's just not acceptable at all.

Time to get FW involved, me thinks!

Shan I am really sorry to hear of all your issues and I hope you get some resolution on all of this.

It's been frustrating to say the least. Despite all of this, we still make the most of it.

Who the balls would use expanding foam? I use that stuff to seal up holes in the house and that stuff will almost NEVER come off. I wish you luck.

Good luck. That stuff ain't never coming off! IMHO, I'd call FW Customer Support and email them the photos. I would also ask if they can recommend another dealer to do the warranty work. I would be suprised if the expanding foam made the gaps larger.

Expanding foam = bonehead

This much I know. The foam doesn't come off and if it does, it will stain the vinyl. My dealer told me it's a temporary fix and FW told them to use it.

Doesn't really matter to me, as far as I'm concerned they can replace the entire back section if it's not corrected properly.

Here's the "fix":

As you can see, the trim piece looks very nice but actually did nothing to fill the gap. The foam is still there and it's doing the job so I don't know if I really want anyone to start tearing it apart at this point.

Should I leave it be? Further "fixing" may wind up with something worse than I have now.

Shan,

Honestly, and this *IS* me being honest and serious... The interior work in your mid cabin is so sloppy it's apauling to me.. So I can only assume it was NOT delivered to the dealership with such ill fitting upholstry. I can only guess that the dealer had all of the materials pulled, and did not re-fit everything correctly and/or tightly? My 248's cabin is taut, no poor fit and tight lines.

I would be making some phone calls to FW Corp if I was in your shoes!

DO NOT accept that as a fix. That is a insult to FW. Get on the phone. You need new interior panels installed by someone who knows what there doing.

$70+k for a boat...NO WAY...forward the pics to FW customer service and ask them if they would accept that on their personal boat...not me. I believe they will be appalled as well and push the dealer to get it right. I'd bet to venture that as soon as they see the pics they will have all the components for the aft cabin on the way to the dealer.

Mine is the same as Brett, perfect fit and tight even lines.

Ditto to all of the above! Do not accept it the way it is! Send the pic's to FW and tell them that there are a lot of FW Owners anxious to find out how this is resolved!

I'm with everyone else - The dealer did a really sloppy job. FW is better than that, and I am very confident that they will be just as shocked when they see your photos.

I'm on my 3rd FW boat largely because of the way they took care of me 15 years ago on my '90 170 Freedom. After 3 seasons there were spider-cracks in the gelcoat in several places on the hull and deck. They told me to keep using it until the season was over and they would fix it over the winter.

They took everything out of the old hull and put it in a new one so basically I had a new boat, as the interior was still like new before. Before shipping it back to my dealer, FW called me and told me it was coming and the guy I talked to gave me his direct number and told me to call him if I found anything wrong. All that for the $25 deductible at the time...on a boat that cost me $10K new.

Let FW customer service know and they will take care of you.

I spoke with FW yesterday and it seems the dealer neglected to use additional bolts or screws to pull that panel tight. I sent them the images and the dealer has been re-instructed to go back and perform the additional work.

More to come!
